It is with a mix of heavy hearts and hopeful spirits that we announce the closure of our beloved hub in Arnold. This decision was not an easy one for us, but after a year of incredible memories, the time has come for us to take a new direction.
A Year of Joy and Challenges
The hub has been a labour of love for both of us. We poured our hearts into creating a space where people of all ages could come together, connect, and have fun. From board game nights to circus skills workshops, the hub was a place where joy was shared and friendships were forged. We are incredibly proud of what we achieved together with you, our amazing community.
However, as much as we love the hub, it has become clear that it isn’t financially sustainable. Despite our best efforts and the success of our entertainment jobs over the summer, the hub has been a drain on our resources. We’ve been working hard at our regular jobs to support ourselves and keep Dice and Balls going, without taking any income from the business. Sadly, the numbers just don’t add up, and we have to face the reality that the hub is not paying for itself.
The Road Ahead: Dice and Balls On the Move
While the closure of the hub is a difficult step, this is not the end for Dice and Balls—far from it. In fact, we’re excited to take our mission on the road! We’ll continue to bring the fun to you, wherever you may be. Whether it’s at local events in Arnold, care homes, hospitals, youth groups, or other community spaces, we’re committed to spreading joy and building connections.
Our passion for creating a welcoming, inclusive environment remains strong. We’re also thrilled to announce that our mini-conventions will continue, with the next Maxi-Min-Con set for October at Bestwood Lodge Hotel. These events have always been a highlight for us, and we can’t wait to share more wonderful experiences with you.
A Heartfelt Thank You
As we prepare to close the hub after Christmas, we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to all of you. The love and support we’ve received over the past year has been overwhelming, and it’s what has made this decision so tough. We will truly miss the community that has grown around the hub, and we’ll always cherish the memories we’ve made together.
But remember, this is not goodbye—it’s simply a new chapter. Dice and Balls will continue to roll forward, bringing the fun to new places and new faces. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events, and we hope you’ll join us as we continue our journey, spreading joy wherever we go.
Thank you for being a part of our story, and for helping to make Dice and Balls what it is today. We will miss you all, but we’re excited for the adventures that lie ahead.
With all our love and gratitude,
Phire and Zoe

“Roll the Dice, Catch the Fun”
Hello! sad to read the news about the Hub, but also very excited about the future!
my son has recently got into dnd and we were considering coming along to one of the campaigns if possible?
do you think, looking ahead, that you’ll still be able to host dnd?
many thanks and best of luck 👍
Thank you! Yes we plan to continue with D&D Sessions. They will start-up again, after the summer break, later this month. Going forward we hope that we can carry on – even if we do it online. ~Zoe x
